A TOTAL of 16 teams will do battle for the 2014 Engen Knockout Challenge.

The tournament takes place from Friday July 18 to 20 at Marks Park, and will pit PSL club academies against independent clubs that had to go through a rigorous qualification process to make it to the last 16 participants from a pool of 32 teams.

Wits are hosting it for the eighth consecutive time in its 11th year running. Tournament Director Dennis Tshabalala was particularly excited about this year’s launch, saying that a big announcement was to be made by the Group Sponsorship Manager, Brad Berg, during his speech.

This years’ tournament will also feature ‘Champions of Champions’ as Brad Berg announced, saying the winners of the Regional Championship will face off in a final showdown, and the best team in the country will lift the trophy in Pimville, Soweto from October 10 to 12.
