Soweto Derby between southern clubs, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates
THE Soweto Derby between southern clubs, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will be hosted on February 9.
Stadium Management South Africa, SMSA, together with Kaizer Chiefs, stakeholders and partners are ready to welcome spectators to FNB Stadium for the Soweto Derby.
Kaizer Chiefs hosts Orlando Pirates in one of the biggest Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches of the year, set to be another heart racing match with both teams eager for a win and eager to impress the crowds of spectators at FNB Stadium.

SMSA CEO, Dr Jacques Grobbelaar said, “The Soweto Derby is one event that gets all soccer fans talking, spectators fill FNB Stadium and the chants and cheers for each team highlights what a spectacular event this really is. It is an event that brings the best of South Africa together and we always look forward to having Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates play at the stadium. This Soweto Derby will be no different and we are busy preparing for a sold-out event.”
Tickets for the match are available from Computicket and Money Market counters of all Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores nationally. No match tickets will be on sale at the stadium on or before match days and spectators are warned to not purchase tickets from unauthorised suppliers.
Ticket prices are level 1 – R100; level 2 – R170; level 5 – R70 and level 5 children – R30 (capped at 200 tickets).
SMSA is focused on ensuring that supporters enjoy the event, with measures in place in the stadium precinct to guarantee smooth traffic flow for supporters. Spectators are encouraged to plan their route in and out of the stadium and make use of one of these options for transport; Rea Vaya, Top 6 Taxi’s and Uber.
Gates open at 11am on match day giving spectators ample time to get to the stadium and enjoy the experience before the match kick off at 3pm.
