Alberton’s Cobras Shotokan Karate Club bag 39 medals in Pretoria
Cobras Shotokan Karate Club won 39 medals in a recently held tournament in Pretoria.
Alberton’s Cobras Shotokan Karate Club recently participated in the Villieria Tigers Shorin Ryu All-Styles Karate tournament held in Pretoria.
The club’s participants performed remarkably well and brought home a total of 36 medals which include 17 gold, 10 silver and nine bronze. “The senseis are very proud of these outstanding achievements,” said Nicholas Gaston-Bellegarde of the club.
Karateka excelled as follows: Riley Gous (bronze kata, bronze kumite), Keithon Greeff (gold kumite) and Sebastion Vermaak (gold kata), Erinique Moodley (gold kata, gold kumite), Bokang Sigasa (gold kata, bronze kumite),Warrick Grundlingh (silver kata, bronze kumite), Alexcia Andrade (gold kata, gold kumite), Sahara Peel (silver kata, bronze kumite), sensei Nicholas Gaston Bellegarde (gold kata, gold kumite), Hayley Peel (gold kata, bronze kumite), sensei Vuyelwa Qayiso (gold kata, gold kumite), Tyler Holm (gold kata), Zoey Holm (silver kata, silver kumite), sensei Laurent Gaston Bellegarde (gold kata, gold kumite), Tyron Dos Santos (bronze kata, silver kumite), Xavier Boshoff (silver kata), Ryan Hovell-Erasmus (silver kata, hold kumite), Alex Grundlingh (silver kata), Juan Crous (bronze kata, gold kumite), Luke Ivan (silver kumite) and Blake Kleynhans (gold kata, bronze kumite).
The club practices on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 17:30 to 18:30 at Ascot Mews Conference and Wedding Venue, 19 Heidelberg Road, New Market, Alberton.
