Three members of the Southern Stars Baseball Club recently made history by competing in the National Baseball Championships (NBCs), which took place in Port Elizabeth.
For the first time, three members of the junior club, Robert Klopper, Ryan Kahn and Heather Posthumus represented Gauteng at the prominent competition.
Everyone was astonished by the pitching prowess of Klopper, a budding star in the U12B division. He was selected as the top opening pitcher for the entire U12B tournament, a truly remarkable achievement that showcases his talent and dedication.
Kahn wasn’t just cheering on Robert from the sidelines; he played a vital role in the team by serving as the coach for the U12B team. His experience and leadership undoubtedly contributed to the team’s performance.
Posthumus demonstrated her commitment to the sport by being chosen as a scorer during the tournament. Her keen eye and focus ensured the games were accurately recorded, adding another layer of Southern Stars representation to the NBCs.
“We, Southern Stars Baseball Club, are incredibly proud of Robert, Ryan, and Heather.
“Their hard work, dedication, and passion for the game have not only earned them this incredible opportunity but have also opened doors for future Southern Stars members to follow in their footsteps.
“Congratulations on making history, and a huge thank you for representing our club on the national stage,” said Shaun Niemand, the Southern Stars Baseball Club’s administrator.
