Alberton teen football star shines in COSAFA U20 Best XI
The 17-year-old Alberton High School star, who plays for Banyana Banyana U17 and Mamelodi Sundowns U17, was named in the COSAFA U20 Women’s Best XI after a standout performance in Namibia.
At just 17 years old, Sethabile Kamwande is making waves in the South African female football scene.
This talented young player from Alberton High School has already achieved great success, representing the Banyana Banyana U17 team and Mamelodi Sundowns U17 ladies.
Kamwande’s impressive performance at the COSAFA U20 Women’s Championship in Namibia earned her a spot in the Women’s Best XI at the Region 5 Youth Games.
This achievement is a testament to her hard work and dedication to the sport.
As a high school student, Kamwande has managed to balance her studies with her football career, all while representing her country on the international stage. “I want to continue to represent my country at the highest level. I want to thank my parents, my coaches and teammates. They helped me a lot,” said Kamwande.

The U17 Banyana Banyana team unfortunately lost the final to Zambia; nevertheless, the squad of ladies remain one of the best U17 ladies teams in Africa.
“We fought hard for the trophy, but it was not enough. I know we will learn from this and use it to succeed,” expressed Kamwande.
