Are you still struggling to stay healthy and fit?
“The most important thing is consistency and dedication” – Alberton Sports and Fitness Club
JOHANNESBURG – Nothing is as tempting as food. Think about it, from the moment babies start eating, all they want to do is eat. We even have to protect them from themselves as they could eat just about anything.
It is not that they are always hungry; the urge to eat is just too hard to ignore. Even adults struggle to keep themselves from eating every now and then. Not that eating often is bad, you’ll be shocked to see just how often sportmen eat.
The important task is to know which food is right for you and your goals, and how much of it you can eat. In fact, some people starve themselves thinking that to lose weight they need not eat enough. And it is not like that, we all come in different sizes and shapes.
Gym instructors Marco Grobler and Jan Du Preez from the Alberton Sports and Fitness club shared with us the key and most vital information about staying healthy and fit.
– First, in whatever you do, the most important thing is consistency and dedication.
– If you are planning to start exercising or gym, you need to stop the tendency of saying “On Monday I am going to start.”
– As much people may doubt this, eating healthy cost less money. As opposed to buying that fat delicious meal you like, rather just buy a salad. Of course it will not be easy to adjust to this habit of eating but remember: Consistency and dedication!
– When you have just started to gym or exercise, do not focus on the scale because it will de-motivate you. Rather focus on reducing your body fat level.
– Remember, your diet depends on your goals. We are not all the same size, don’t kill yourself; eat as long as you limit yourself to what is enough and healthy.
– And as soon as you get tempted to eat more, remember just how far you have come to get where you are.
– Eat four to five healthy meals a day. They should be two to three hours apart and do not forget to drink lots of water.
Three important things you going to need:
1 Training programme (determined by your goals and schedule)
2 Eating programme (also in line with your goals and schedule)
3 Discipline (it is very, very important that you have it)
What to eat?
Breakfast: You can eat Jungle Oats and if you want to use sugar, use brown sugar. Your breakfast must be something healthy that imparts energy to keep you strong all day.
Snack: You can have half a cup of raw broccoli just to keep you running.
Lunch: You can eat grilled chicken breast, brown rice, half of an avocado (your source of fat because you need some fat in your system).
Snack two: You can have a good protein shake and a green apple.
Dinner: This should be the lowest carbohydrates meal of your day. You can have hake fish and mixed vegetables, and finally treat yourself to some red wine.
Important, you need to know your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) in order to maintain your lean weight.
