The Soil features in Sound of Freedom concert with SA jazz legends
Popular ‘Kasi Soul’ ensemble, The Soil, will feature in the uplifting Jozi Jazz: Sound of Freedom concert with jazz legend Caiphus Semenya and his wife Letta Mbulu, at Carnival City on Women’s Day, the 9th of August 2014.

The Soil is a popular, four-member a-capella singing group which performs what they describe as “Kasi Soul” – an eclectic mix of musical genres such as jazz, hip hop, Afro-pop and Afro-soul. Fusing their harmonious voices and soothing melodies with deep and meaningful messages, they have become renowned for their uplifting sound.
Having paid their dues as a performing group in and around the country, the awe-inspiring talent of this trio of a-capella voices was formally-acknowledged when they won the ‘Standard Bank Standing Ovation Award’ in the Fringe Section and the ‘Standard Bank Encore Gold Award’ at the 2010 National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
During their career, The Soil has graced stages of South Africa’s biggest music events such as the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, Grahamstown Arts Festival, Jazz by the River, as well as theatre stages of the Nelson Mandela Theatre as well as the Catalyst Theatre in Cape Town.
As comfortable at big music festivals and concerts as it is on theatre stages, The Soil has promised to deliver a soul-uplifting performance when they convene for Jozi Jazz: Sound of Freedom.
There are still tickets available for Jozi Jazz: Sound of Freedom. They are available through Computicket, with prices ranging from R200 to R375. The four-hour spectacular starts at 17:00. Refreshments will be on sale during the 30-minute interval.
