Calling all bakers and cake decorators…
The competitions will serve as a fundraiser and money raised on the day will go to the non-profit organisation iDUC.
The FBI Chef School will be hosting two cake competitions on August 8, 2020, at the culinary school’s premises at 164 Church Street, Randburg.
The competitions will serve as a fundraiser and money raised on the day will go to the non-profit organisation iDUC.
The two competitions on the day are:
- The Cake Artist Competition which is open to chefs, home bakers, beginner to advanced cake decorators and members of the public who wish to enter.
- The Grade 11 Hospitality Study Learners Cake Competition is open to Grade 11 learners from Gauteng and the Free State.
Contestants in both competitions stand a chance of winning amazing prizes from several generous sponsors, including Rolkem.

About iDUC
The iDUC project is a multileveled initiative that focuses on job creation, community upliftment and the support of rape victims. It is a joint venture between founder Santi Britz, the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) and the Job Club.
With the iDUC project, unemployed women in less fortunate communities are identified according to their skill sets; the primary demand being skills in hand work and sewing. These ladies are then employed and paid to make little stuffed animals and hooded robes. The rationale behind the making of these items is that these robes will be given to rape victims at rape crisis centres across South Africa, by the respective SACBW branches. Child victims will receive a little stuffed toy (a duck) as well as a robe.
Funding works as follows:
* Sponsors from individuals, corporate groups and businesses.
* Selling of white ribbons (made by the same group of ladies) to raise awareness on sexual abuse against women and children. These ribbons also have a little pink stone on it to show support to people battling breast cancer.
Funds raised will be used to pay the ladies employed to make the ribbons, robes and little ducks, and to buy the necessary materials for the process.
