Different Creative Academy campuses have joined hands to donate new and secondhand bras in honour of breast cancer survivors.
On November 2, they handed over the stack of bras to The Hill’s Christian Centre Remar SA, which, in turn, will donate these to the underprivileged.
The different schools also collaborated with Ms Deaf South Africa 2020 finalist Megan Holmes whose child is a learner at the school. She took it upon herself to spread the message to her list of contacts who decided to lend a helping hand.
The handover was made possible with the help of teachers and parents at the schools.
Tarryn Botha, principal at one of the schools, said: “For me it’s important that every woman feels dignified and having a bra is a basic need. Despite your background, you should still have dignity. If we as a community can be able to give back, then we should.”
Rita Guerra of Christian Centre Remar SA thanked the team for their generous donation.
“We receive a number of women who come to us in need of help as part of our long-term programmes we then freely assist them. They normally come in without necessities and these donations will make a huge difference,” she said.
