The Dan Nicholl Show Invitational tees off for a good cause
Celebrities, sportsmen, and women from across all sporting codes gathered at the iconic course in support of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
The Dan Nicholl Show Invitational, presented by Brightrock, teed off for a good cause at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club on November 23.
Celebrities, sportsmen, and women from across all sporting codes gathered at the iconic course in support of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. The charity uses sport as a powerful and cost-effective tool to help children and young people overcome violence, discrimination, and disadvantage in their lives.
Over R300 000 was raised from the sold-out four-balls and items auctioned on the day, a gesture that will go a long way given the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on many disadvantaged communities in South Africa.
World Cup-winning Springbok and Laureus Sport for Good ambassador Schalk Brits is overjoyed with the proceeds from the charity event.
“The work being done by Laureus Sport for Good Foundation in various communities around the world addresses such important issues, by using the power of sport. Unfortunately, this sector has been impacted by the pandemic, with children not being able to play sport and learn important life skills.
“Events like this form an important part of the sustainability of Laureus. These funds raised allow Laureus to continue doing the work they do and have a valuable impact on communities.”
The Sunshine and European Tour course, which was in pristine condition, was decorated with celebrities including Kurt Darren, Ross Learmonth from rock group Prime Circle, Kahn Morbee from the Parlotones, Proteas cricketer Chris Morris, rugby icon John Smit, TV personality Masego (Maps) Maponyane, comedians Jason Goliath and Joey Rasdien and many more.
Nicholl was thrilled with the overall outcome of the day.
“The Dan Nicholl Show Invitational presented by Brightrock has really grown into an anticipated and loved event each year.
“This year was particularly impressive given the havoc caused by Covid-19, so every cent that was raised for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation is life-changing. Special thanks go out to all of the partners and benefactors who contributed to making the day such a big success.”
