Alberton Animal Rehabilitation and Conditioning Centre (AARCC) opened its doors to the community on May 1 in Randhart.
The Alberton Animal Rehabilitation and Conditioning Centre (AARCC) is a pet physio, rehab and conditioning centre and a first for Alberton.
Locals made their way to the centre and were familiarised with the new facility and services offered during their open day on May 1 in Randhart.
Attendees had an opportunity to see some of the therapy offered by the centre in action on the day.
AARCC has developed a multi-modal approach with tailor-made wellness plans, which will help owners to provide their pets with support beyond traditional veterinary services.

This will be done through adapting human physical therapy techniques to increase the function and mobility of joints and muscles in pets.
The launch of AARCC follows the launch of the flagship Bedfordview Animal Rehabilitation and Conditioning Centre (BARCC). Their services and treatments provided a speedy, safe and improved recovery for more than 490 cats, dogs and a potbellied pig.

Dedication to good services
Dr Tamsin Price, the founder of AARCC, said she is committed to offering the Alberton pet owner community the widest range of holistic treatments in the area.

“This will be done by my team of rehabilitation specialists. The goal of rehabilitation for animals is to improve quality of life, decrease pain and improve functionality. We have a passion for pain management in companions of all ages,” she said.
Ailments treated include degenerative diseases such as arthritis, hereditary compromises like hip and elbow dysplasia, neurological compromise and pain. They also cater for pre-and post-operative care, rehabilitation post-injury and prophylactic strengthening.

“Animal rehabilitation can reduce pain and enhance recovery from injury, surgery, degenerative and age-related diseases. Therapies and services offered are registered with the South African Veterinary Council. All therapists have trained at leading institutions, such as Onderstepoort, the University of Tennessee and Equine Librium,” said Price.
Acupuncture, medical-grade laser treatments, massage, hydrotherapy and land-based therapy exercises form part of the range of treatments they offer.

Price said in this endeavour, AARCC is excited to partner with The Pet Wellness Centre.
“Our combined services and therapies will make it easier for pet owners and animal lovers to have a convenient one-stop shop where their pets’ needs will be addressed, whatever they may be. The new Pet Wellness Centre includes the Alberante Vet Hospital, AARCC, Sampath and The Dog Club,” she said.
