Family launches book written by the late Marisa
Marisa lost her battle against cancer last year September.
The late Marisa de Araujo’s book, The Cancer That Cured Me, was launched at Aspen Estate on May 20.
This is a book about Marisa’s journey of self-discovery and faith in the face of one of the greatest battles she ever had to encounter. In this book, she reveals how her Heavenly Father carried her through her fight with cancer and how through this, her relationship with God was solidified.
This book deals with the harsh realities that cancer patients and their families have to go through. It clearly explains the pains and effects of all the different cancer treatments in great detail. Yet alongside all of this, Marisa shares the thread of hope which is evident throughout – that God is present and that He has a plan and purpose for every person’s life.
In September, Marisa lost her fight against cancer a mere two weeks after she completed her book. For her, the completion of her book was a great accomplishment as she hoped that the lessons she learnt as she journeyed would serve to encourage and support others in the same or similar situations.
Fernando, the husband to the late Marisa, said at the book launch his wife was a pillar of strength even throughout her treatment to their girls and himself.
“She encouraged us to live and savour every moment. She wanted us to make sure that in all instances you were ready to meet with the Lord.
“For Marisa, each day no matter the pain and fear held joy and hope and new opportunities to make a change for the better and to make a difference in the lives of others,” he said.
At the book launch, Dani de Araujo and Kayla du Toit, Marisa’s two daughters, expressed how moved they were by the number of people who were interested in purchasing their mother’s book. They said they knew their mom would be influencing others through this book for a long time still.
