SASSA confirms fourth payment day for grants under review

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that beneficiaries whose social grants are under review will have a fourth payment day in September.

The September payment schedule starts with Older Persons Grants on Wednesday, September 2, followed by Disability Grants on Thursday, September 3, and Children’s Grants on Friday, September 4.

Beneficiaries whose grants are under review will be paid on Monday, September 7, provided they have met the requirements of the review process.

SASSA spokesperson Andile Tshona stressed that the fourth payment day is not an additional general payment date.

“Monday, 7 September is specifically for beneficiaries whose grants are under review and who are therefore not paid during the normal three-day payment cycle. Beneficiaries who do not receive their grants on 2, 3 or 4 September should not panic or rush to SASSA offices,” said Tshona.

Beneficiaries whose grants are under review are encouraged to respond to SASSA requests within the stipulated period and submit the required information and supporting documents.

SASSA has also introduced a dedicated WhatsApp enquiry channel to help beneficiaries check their status.

Beneficiaries can send a message to 082 601 0111 to find out whether they have been selected for a grant review, life certification or another verification process requiring their attention.

Tshona said the agency remains committed to improving the administration and delivery of social assistance while ensuring eligible beneficiaries receive the support to which they are legally entitled.

The September payment schedule is:

• Wednesday, September 2: Older Persons Grants
• Thursday, September 3: Disability Grants
• Friday, September 4: Children’s Grants
• Monday, September 7: Beneficiaries whose grants are under review
