SASSA urges beneficiaries not to panic over social grant reviews

SASSA has reassured beneficiaries that being selected for a social grant review does not automatically mean their grant has been cancelled or benefits stopped.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has urged social grant beneficiaries not to panic if they are selected for a review.

SASSA CEO Themba Matlou explained that a review forms part of the agency’s process to determine whether beneficiaries continue to meet the requirements for social assistance.

The clarification comes amid growing concern among beneficiaries about the social grant review process.

Matlou said SASSA remains committed to ensuring eligible beneficiaries continue to receive the social assistance to which they are entitled.

The agency stressed that being selected for a review and losing a grant are not the same thing.

Beneficiaries selected for review have therefore been urged to follow the instructions provided by SASSA and complete the required verification process.

Matlou also encouraged beneficiaries to remain attentive to official communication and co-operate with the review process where required.
