Arrest for Sandy murder

A suspect is in police custody for the murder of Sandy Maharla whose decomposed body was found on Sunday morning.

Police made their first arrest for the murder of Sandy Maharla who went missing on Friday and was found in an open veld.

Residents of the flats close to where her body was found saw a car in the early morning hours of Sunday and informed police.

“Through a series of interviews we managed to arrest the suspect today (Monday),” said Brigadier Leroy Nolan.

Resident of the Hillbrow flats, where Maharla lived gathered in front of the Eldorado Park police station to show their support and hopefully get a glimpse of the suspect.

The man, known to Urban News, has been taken in for questioning. Police are confident that more arrests will be made.
“Sandy didn’t deserve to die the way she did.

“Police must hand the suspect to us, the community, so we can deal with him,” said a resident Somaiya Mohammed.

Nolan appealed with residents not to act violently but should provide police with information.
