The pupils of Zifuneleni Junior Secondary School in Orlando East took part in the Coca-Cola Rockcorps Project on Wednesday.

The pupils painted a Grade R class and a Jungle Gym at Lukholweni Primary School in Orlando East.

Coca-Cola RockCorps project is part of a global youth movement and the pilot project made possible by Coca-Cola South Africa has seen thousands of Mzansi teens come together in a quest to ‘share happiness’ by dedicating their time to uplift their local communities.

Project manager Phuluso Mphaphuli said that this project is intended to encourage volunteering among young people.

“We have been to different schools in Gauteng where pupils have volunteered in one way or another,” he said.

He said that this project has been successful in the United States.

Kananelo Modise a pupil at Zifuneleni Junior Secondary School said that she is excited to be part of this project.

She said that she would like to encourage other young people to also enter the project.

“It is so fulfilling to do something for someone else, I didn’t know I could paint but today I actually helped to paint a class room,” she said.

The pupils who took part in the project will attend a concert featuring Global superstar Ciara and Hip-Hop legend and Busta Rhymes on November 16 exclusively for community teens and heroes who have rolled up their sleeves and done their bit to make a real difference.
