Sewing project for unemployed women

Margaret Gwele Primary School and the Department of Social Development are most likely to partner an upcoming sewing project.

Margaret Gwele Primary School and the Department of Social Development are most likely to partner an upcoming sewing project.

The project will cater for eight unemployed women who will sew uniforms and t-shirts for the school.

This announcement was made at the school by an official from the department during a food parcel handout.

People to be chosen will be trained in sewing but only if they lack the skill.

A registration process will then follow and participants will be briefed on how to run the sewing business proficiently.

According to the deputy principal, Lulama Njokwana, the project is a reasonable step into creating employment for women.

“I am very happy about the whole idea and I’m looking forward to seeing it deliver for the people.

She said “Expectations are that poverty will be curtailed”.
