Almita Tshautsane of Lefa Day Care in Bramfischerville is concerned about the health of the children due to a sewage that has filled the entire street and the entrance to the crèche.
She said the toilets at crèche are no longer working because of the blockage since the pipes have been channelled to pour waste directly to the manhole.
“I have raised the matter with Joburg Water but I have not received the assistance I need.
Tshautsane claims that she was told about budget allocation by entity workers who had once came to fix the problem.
“This has been a continuous health problem since I started living here from 2002.
Bongani Ngubeni of infrastructure in ward 44 said the tar road by Lefa Day Care has been ruined by the sewage.
Ngubeni said the road was fixed not long ago.
“The worst part about the problem is that Tshautsane had to hire plumbers to fix municipal property.
He said” The manhole was left opened and it’s a risk to children who play in the street.
Ngubeni said he has spoken with the councillor and are both generating solutions to the problem.
