Head of communications at Orlando Police Station Nomvula Mbense encourages people to be safe at night.
Head of communications at Orlando Police Station Nomvula Mbense said that women must walk in groups at night.
She said that as we are heading to the festive season residents tend to go to parties and then walk alone at night.
“At this time of the year people attend parties and leave late. I urge women to walk in groups or call someone to fetch them from the party,” said Mbense.
She also advised women not to accept drinks from strangers. “We have had cases reported where woman say they were sexually violated by men that had bought them drinks.
“When you are going to a bar or shebeens make sure you have money to pay for your own drinks, don’t depend on strangers to buy you drinks. Some men think that a women need to repay them with sex after buying them drinks.” she said.
