The Evangelical Presbyterian church Diepkloof parish celebrated senior citizen day last week.
The church bought the elderly blankets, gifts and lunch to commemorate the special day.
The event coordinator Colin Baloyi said that they usually take the elders to lunch.
“This year we decided to do something that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. We wanted to show the elders as a church that we value and appreciate them,” he said.
Baloyi said that they gave 87 seniors a day to remember.
“The elders have helped us a lot as the younger generations. We wanted to thank them before they die,” he said.
