CPF advises residents to work with police for a crime free 2014
CPF asks residents to be more vigilant.
Chairperson of Community Policing Forum (CPF) Christopher Maduna said that as we start the new year, residents should be more vigilant and also work with the police in ensuring a crime free 2014.
“We urge residents to work with the CPF and the police in the fight against crime.
“One of the major contributors to crime is drugs as drug addicts would do anything to support their habit,” he said.
Maduna said the CPF aims to reach out to men in 2014 to encourage them to take a more active role in society.
“Men have lost their role in society, this is the reason why more people are going into drugs as they don’t have positive male role models.
We want to encourage men in our community to play a more positive role in the lives of our youth,” he said.
He also encouraged young people to stay away from crime and to be focused on their education.
“Young people need to realise that they are the future and that if they don’t have an education this will lead them to crime and a life of destruction,” he said.
Maduna also advised parents to stop being their children’s friends and to be more active parents.
He said that children should not have all the control parents must lead and guide their children at all times.
