Tau visits Orlando Children's Home

Joburg Mayor donates fruits and veggies to home.

Johannesburg Mayor Parks Tau visited Orlando Children’s Home last Tuesday to donate fruits and vegetables from Joburg Market.

Tau dropped by the home with some of his mayoral committee members after a general meeting which was held at Orlando Stadium.

“We could not just go without coming to Orlando Children’s Home, we want you to know that we are always with you,” he said.

He said the City appreciates the work that the home is doing.

“The City wants to work with you to register the home as one of the beneficiaries of the Joburg Market,” he said.

Director of the home, Miriam Mazibuko, said that she is humbled by the visit from the mayor.

“We are so thankful for the donation some of our children are HIV positive and need to have a healthy meal, so we needed this donation,” she said.

Mazibuko also said that she was happy to hear the mayor say that Joburg Market will register Orlando Children’s Home as one of their beneficiaries.

“That is going to assist as so much. The home depends on donations so we are so pleased to hear that we are going to be a beneficiary of the Joburg Market.
