Domestic violence awareness campaign
The Diepkloof police take a stand a vow to help the elderly who are being abused by their families.

Diepkloof Police held a domestic violence awareness campaign at Phase 3 last Friday.
Police from the trauma centre, a policeman trained in handling domestic violence cases, the CPF and the Youth Desk were on hand.
The manager for sector 3, Constable Mpho Ratshisusu, said that the campaign was aimed at the elderly.
“There has been a rising number of cases that are opened by old people claiming that family members are abusing them. We have had horrifying cases of children, grandchildren and family members taking pension money and beating old people,” he said.
Ratshisusu said that they wanted to tell elders that there is help.
“We urge victims of any kind of abuse to go to the police station and report the crime. We do not condone any kind of physical and emotional abuse,” he said.
Ratshisusu said that anyone who wants information or who wants to report cases of domestic violence can ask for Sergeant Maseko at the police station or call the police on 011 933 7400.
