Striking workers refuse to get back to work

Workers demand bonuses.

Striking workers at the construction site of the Medupi Power Station are refusing to get back to work.

Eskom yesterday announced that it has reinstated 1700 workers dismissed last month following an unprotected strike.

This morning it emerged that workers are not happy with the conditions set by the power utility and are still demanding bonuses.

Workers are gunning for R10 000 bonuses and better living conditions.

Work was suppose to continue today but this morning reports emerged that workers were not prepared to get back to work.

Meanwhile, Eskom announced that it will implement stage two load shedding from 06:00 this morning which is likely to continue until 22:00 this evening.
