Watch: Diepkloof protests are a direct result of the failed ANC government

DA calls on the Mayor Parks Tau to investigate the delay of the allocation of the Diepkloof flats as a matter of urgency.

Following the frustration shown by Diepkloof Hostel residents yesterday, the Democratic Alliance says it is a direct result of poor consultation and false promises.

“Although we understand the frustration of the community of Diepkloof, we strongly condemn violent protests.

“They can protest peacefully,” said DA constitutional head Tsepo Mhlongo.

Mhlongo said yesterday’s protest marks the third of similar protests in just a few months, which shows that the people are frustrated with the ANC-governed City of Johannesburg Municipality and its empty promises.

“It is very clear that the City of Joburg municipality is failing to deliver.

“The Community Residential Units have been empty for more than five years and not all residents were given first preference.

“Diepkloof residents are not happy.

“The DA calls on the Mayor Parks Tau to investigate the delay of allocation of flats (Houses) as a matter of urgency and to institute the necessary interventions to turn it around,” he added.
