No planned load shedding today

Power system is expected to be constrained during the evening peak period.

Eskom says there is no planned load shedding for today, as it has enough generating capacity to meet the current demand.

However, the power system is expected to be constrained during the evening peak period, which is between 5pm and 9pm, mainly due to the increased usage of electric heaters, electric stoves and geysers during this period.

“This is in addition to the fact that several generating units are currently out of service due to planned and unplanned maintenance,” said the power utility in a statement on Tuesday morning.

It urged South Africans to continue to use electricity sparingly as the electricity system remains significantly constrained today and for the rest of the week. – SAnews.gov.za
