A man and a woman were shot on Sunday night in Westbury Florida Avenue causing fear and concern for the residents of Westbury.
A couple was shot in their car in front of a house in the street.
According to Colonel Marilyn Bunce from the Sophiatown Police Station no arrests have been made thus far.
“We have managed to open a case of attempted murder but on two counts.
“No deaths were reported but the people that were shot are critically injured and still in hospital,” said Bunce.
Residents have expressed their feelings towards the situation and said it cannot go on longer.
One resident who does not want to be named said they are living in fear.
“The shootings have spread rapidly and this needs to stop.
“Our children lives are in danger and police must act quickly to stop the perpetrators,” he said.
The car involved in the shootings was damaged by the bullets.
