Child critical in hit-and-run, Bosmont

Boy found lying in the street when paramedics arrived.

A boy, believed to be 10-years-old, was left critically injured yesterday afternoon after he was hit by a light motor vehicle at the corners of Olywenhout and Albertina Sisulu Road in Bosmont

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the patient lying in one of the smaller roads next to the intersection.

Russel Meiring spokesperson for ER24 said he sustained serious injuries to his head, chest, and his abdomen.

“Paramedics immediately began their treatment and initiated numerous advanced life support interventions in order to stabilise his vital signs.

Once treated, the patient was transported under advanced life support supervision to Johannesburg General Hospital for urgent treatment because he is in a very serious condition,” said Meiring.

The vehicle in question was apparently not found on the scene.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
