A man was shot in his right thigh this morning

A shooting incident occurred around 6.30am this morning leaving one man injured in the process.

Station commander for Sophiatown Police Station Brigadier Susan Crafford said the man was shot in his right thigh.

“The man has been transported to a hospital and a full investigation is underway.

“A few names of perpetrators were brought up but very few are known perpetrators according to our records,” said Crafford.

Calvin Cass a resident from the community said it is encouraging to see more police visibility in the area.

“It is unfortunate however that the shooting has occurred but from what I have seen is that the police have increased visibility and this is a good thing,” said Cass.

Crafford said that the men involved fled in a white bakkie.
