Orlando police warn of internet fraud

A man has lost his car over a bogus internet transaction

Police have issued a warning to residents to be extra careful when selling a property on the internet.

This comes after a man from Orlando lost his car on a bogus internet sales transaction.

“The complainant advertised his car on the internet and immediately got an interested buyer.

“He alleged that money was paid to his account by the buyer who then took the car,” said Police Spokesperson Constable Monica Hangwani.

The seller discovered that he had been scammed when he went to check the money at the bank and found that it was never deposited.

When he tried calling the buyer, his phone was off according to Hangwani.

She warned residents not to give away their product before confirming the payment when selling over the internet.

No arrest has been made and a case of fraud is being investigated by Orlando police.
