Orlando: The healing power of motivation

Motivational speaker and academic Thandiwe Nyoni shares some words of wisdom in her new CD titled Getting My House in Order.

Motivational speaker Thandiwe Nyoni aims to help everyone get their houses in order. Nyoni who hails from Orlando East is not just a motivational speaker but she is a qualified social worker and holds Masters in Business Administration (MBA) as well.

As a way of sharing knowledge and motivating her community, she has decided to produce a motivational CD titled Getting My House in Order.

The CD is a prelude to the book of the same title she is currently working on. Getting My House in Order is inspired by what Nyoni has been through in her life.

In 2002, Nyoni suffered a mental and physical breakdown which landed her in a hospital. This was the time when she was busy with her business studies.

“After going through something like a mental breakdown, you are like a broken glass that needs to be rebuilt or reshaped again. This is why I decided to embark on the Getting My House in Order project,” explains Nyoni.

On her journey of healing and recovery, she hopes to help anyone who is at risk of experiencing the same thing avoid it. She also hopes to shine a light of hope to those who have experienced hardship in their lives even though it might be different from hers.

The house that must be in order is not a real house but it’s her and everyone who listens to the CD.  The mental and physical breakdown she suffered is what caused the house that is her to not be in order.

Thandiwe Nyoni has released a CD.

“For me, the disorder in my house was caused by the breakdown. For some people, it might be caused by substance abuse, rape, failure and many other things.

“Whether it’s your fault or not that there is disorder in your house, you need to take responsibility and get it in order,” explains Nyoni.

The CD is basically about helping those in difficult situations help themselves. The aim is to entice and prepare readers who are waiting for the book to get in that motivational mood.

Before the breakdown, Nyoni was not taking care of her emotional wellness and according to her; this is a case with many other people out there.

She says, “Sometimes things don’t go well and as people, we think we are okay. This is because in most cases we don’t have a platform where we discharge our emotional burdens. A person goes on thinking they are okay until they break.”

With the release of the DC, a platform for those who needs to relieve their emotional burden has been created.

Everyone’s story in this world is unique and people face different challenges in life. Even though Getting My House in Order is not a one size fit all approach in helping everyone overcome their challenges, it goes a long way in uplifting those who need words of motivation the most.
