Eldorado Park: Long arm of the law captures brazen criminals
Thieves target VW Polos.
Volkswagen Polo vehicles are popular among car thieves and this has been highlighted again after police recovered a brand new VW Polo in Eldorado Park.
According to Eldorado Park police communications officer, captain Phillemon Khorombi, “Two men were arrested in Cumming Road for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle.”
Khorombi said that the brand new car, with no registration number, was recovered when police responded to a call about a hijacked vehicle.
The men purportedly hijacked the vehicle in Ridgeway and fled to Eldorado Park. The men are both 22 years of age and one was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm believed to have been used in the hijacking.

The crooks were detained at the Eldorado Park Police Station holding cells and the vehicle taken to the Lenasia South African Police Service storage camp pending further investigation into the incident.
Both men will appear in court on charges of being in possession of a hijacked vehicle.
Eldorado park station commander brigadier Pieter van Dyk applauded the police for their swift reaction and the vehicle was returned to its lawful owners.

Following a relatively incident-free Easter holiday, two men aged 25 and 33 were arrested on charges of attempted murder.
Khorombi said, “It is alleged that two suspects who were in possession of firearms fired at the victim, but were identified by residents who witnessed the shooting.”

The two men were arrested by police and hauled off to the cells. Due to the serious nature of the charges against them, they are due in court at the earliest date possible to answer to charges of attempted murder.
In other news, a group of six men was arrested on charges of malicious damage to property and attempted cable theft.
Residents witnessed the six digging a trench to uncover the cable and reported the matter to police.
Eldorado Park police responded and the men were swiftly arrested and detained at the Eldorado Park Police Station.
“The suspects will appear in court as soon as possible, ” said Khorombi.
