RCL feeds 400 learners for Mandela Day

“This year we identified a school that is about 5 km radius from vector logistics."

Students of Tswelelang Higher Primary School had an early Mandela day celebration that was organised by Do More Foundation, an NPO that was founded by RCL Foods on June 28.

Brandon Mosquit said the Corporate Social Investment (CSI) and RCL Foods decided to embark on the Mandela day project that is aimed at preparing a warm meal for vulnerable members of the community.

“Today will be preparing a warm meal for the learners because it is winter and its cold,” said Mosquit.

Mosquit said they chose the school based on how needy they are and we also check if they have a feeding scheme programme.

“This year we identified a school that is about 5 km radius from vector logistics.

“We check if their feeding scheme is active and how much they invest in it,” he said.

Mosquit said they needed to serve their 60 minutes now because the children are going on recess and it will be celebrated during the period.

“We will be serving lunch in the lunch boxes because the school does not provide dishes for the children to have their food in.

“They expect the children to bring their own containers from home so this will make it simple for the children,” said Mosquit.

He said that this is not the only thing they had in mind but they are planning something else to do after recess.

“Do More Foundation is planning on providing nearly 7000 nutritious meals to vulnerable children.

“We have 700 volunteers to help prepare all these meals.

“We are planning on cooking a meal that will cater for 400 learners,” said Mosquit.
