We have received unconfirmed reports that a police officer has shot himself and died on the scene. The incident happened in Dobsonville Extension Three Mtamela Street.

We were informed about the incident by a resident Robie Mtamela.

Police are now barricading the crime scene.

Update:

The officer lived in Dobsonville and worked at the Orlando Police Station. It is believed that he was in his late thirties.

A word from Dobsonville Police spokesperson Captain Jeanette Phefo is that the police officer shot himself in his house where he died.
