Eldorado Park father awaits sentence as case is postponed
After the State Advocate Charlene Mack put the charges to the accused, the father pleaded guilty to all charges against him.
The trial of an Eldorado Park couple charged in connection with the death of their four-year-old daughter and the assault of their three-year-old son commenced in the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Johannesburg on October 20.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Magaboke Mohlatlole said that after the State Advocate Charlene Mack put the charges to the accused, the father pleaded guilty to all charges.
The charges include murder, rape and child abuse in connection with the death of his four-year-old daughter.
He also pleaded guilty to assaulting the couple’s three-year-old son in a separate incident on March 13, 2025.

Mohlatlole stated that the mother, who faces charges including murder, child abuse and failure to report sexual offences, pleaded not guilty.
“The State alleges that she became aware of injuries sustained by the child but failed to report the matter to the relevant authorities,” he said
He said that her legal representative indicated that the defence was ready to proceed with the trial.
According to the State, on August 6, 2025, the four-year-old girl was assaulted and sexually abused while her mother was at work.
Neighbours reportedly heard the child screaming and alerted the police. The child was subsequently found unconscious with severe injuries and transported to hospital, where she later died.
The matter has been postponed to October 22 to allow the father’s legal representative to prepare a written statement in terms of Section 112(2) of the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977, setting out the factual basis of his guilty plea.
