The new face of MTV base

The MTV Base presenter search finale at Club Icon in Pimville saw Tshego Mosupye from Pretoria taking the first prize.
It all began when the VJ search left Diepkloof in a frenzy at Zone Six the Venue where they auditioned hopefuls from all over Johannesburg and the entire country for the next MTV VJ.
According to their website, MTV Base is a 24-hour English language music television channel that reaches 48.5 million African viewers in 10.5 million households in 48 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

MTV Base is available across Africa on satellite and is targeted at the majority of African youth, which is why Pearl Modiadie was the presenter for the search in Johannesburg, Soweto at the famous venue in Diepkloof.
Slikour Metane was also there and for so many other youths at the auditions, people like Slikour and Pearl were the motivation they needed to stand in the windy queues.
Slikour said, “The youth that came to try out at the auditions were all good.”Young people from as far as the Eastrand like Teboho Moloi went to the auditions brimming with hope.

He explained that his life revolved around the entertainment industry and said, “I am just finna live my life and get paid while I’m at it.”
Nigel Tokura of Cheekymedia was at the auditions as well as a facilitator.
He said, “We are basically looking for someone who is fresh and vibey, someone who will bring in some new flavour.”
Mosupye kept his ground through the whole competition and celebrated the victory as the new face of MTV with his fellow top three contestants who were also happy for him and his friends and family.
