Mrs Africa 2018 Lucinda Pietersen lends her support to the Dare2Read Project
Reading is so important in this day and age.
Children of the Dare2Read SA Project were excited to have the current Mrs Africa, Lucinda Pietersen pay them a visit on March 17. The project was held at the Coronationville Library on the by founder Natalie Goodman.
It is aimed at assisting both parent and child with the necessary skills to improve and develop reading. Pietersen addressed the parents with a motivational talk on the importance of supporting their children’s vision for their future.
Other topics she touched on was the importance of reading with your children as well as the benefits of reading. Mrs Africa and the title holders of Style Elevation handed out some books to the children to encourage the importance of reading.

Pietersen selected the tiniest little girl to wear her international title sash for a group photo with the children.
“Everyone deserves to feel like a beauty queen. I want this little girl to remember this moment forever and to always know that she can be anything she puts her mind to,” said Pietersen.
In her speech, she said: “Parents with your support and encouragement your children will grow up believing that they can achieve anything.
“For as long as they have you believing in them it would not matter who tries to bring them down, your belief will still stand. Do not let your fears prevent them from achieving their dreams. You can either build them up or break them down.

“Choose to build them up. You as parents were once children too and there were hopes and dreams you may have had for yourself. Some have achieved them and some haven’t but what stops you now.
“The only thing keeping you back is you, there is no time like the present to start working towards what you want in life. Reading is so important at this stage in your children’s lives. It will help build character and confidence. It will enhance their vocabulary and bring the world to them.
“The more they do it, the more they will grow and the better they will become at it. It will also allow them to create dreams for themselves, those same dreams could lead them to their passion someday.

“Dream with your kids encourages dreaming big with no limitations. Never raise your child for yourself, raise them for the world. They are our future leaders and a leader is birthed and groomed from small.”
Pietersen would like to urge the community to please support their children.
