Learners from Mara Primary receive sanitary pads

Councillor intervenes in a needy situation.

With the continuous need for hygiene and the ever worrying factor of poverty, local leaders are making moves to remedy the situation. As an act of kindness and out of concern, councillor George Basupane donated 45 sanitary pads to pupils at Mara Primary School under his dignity campaign.

According to the councillor, he decided to make means and find resources to buy these pads after he heard about some of the bad conditions that children find themselves in when they come to school.

“I was shocked when I heard that there are still some children who are struggling when it comes to hygiene and sanitary pads.

“I was honestly heartbroken so that is when I decided to do something about the situation and find different ways for funding so that we can buy pads.

Looking at the future, the councillor is planning to continue donating sanitary towels as and when he has access to them and plans identify needy learners and try to find ways to assist them according to their individual needs.

The councillor is also requesting that business owners come forth and give a helping hand to needy pupils.
