Police and other law enforcement agencies’ swift response to protesters setting up barricades on the main roads in and out of Eldorado Park this morning seems to have been successful in deterring protests which were hyped by organisers to shut down the area this morning.
Sources within the Eldorado Park CPF say that Union and Main Roads where tyres were being burnt earlier are calm and only one arrest, purportedly of a protest wanting to throw a Molotov cocktail at a passing CPF vehicle, was reported.
There are fears that once police leave the area, violent protests like the ones experienced last year will flare up again.
