Brothers join forces to build an empire

"The value of leadership is embedded within us at birth, it is just time that reveals it to you."

Two brothers from Diepkloof put their differences aside and joined forces, brains, and their respective areas expertise to build an empire.

To the siblings, Molokwane Motlhahledi and older brother Lebone Motlhahledi, age is nothing but a number when it comes to running their family business.

The pair grew up in Diepkloof and Molokwane went to study at Namedi High School and furthered his education at the Wits Business School where he learned how to tackle and approach business people and clients.

After gathering all the business tools he would need to start and grow a feasible business, Motlhahledi worked as a tax clerk for a whole year. His one year stint in the corporate world spurred him on to start a business for himself.

Motlhahledi said, “The value of leadership is embedded within us at birth, it is just time that reveals it to you. There will always be challenges, but the inner drive will always remain.”

Molokwane went on to open his first company with his wife before actually joining forces with his brother to start and grow their own company called Boleboni electronics.

Their company specialises in something new and necessary for the safety of their community. Their area of expertise is access control and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) installations.

The business came together perfectly because Lebone worked for an electrical company and this is where he learnt all there was to know about electrical engineering.

Lebone Motlhahledi said, “I introduced my brother to the business, and we have been working smoothly over the years because he is great with paperwork while I’m good with the technical aspect of the business.”

The brothers started their Boleboni company from humble beginnings. Molokwane said how they had to visit clients homes on foot because they didn’t have any transport at the time.

The business duo credits their friends and family for always being there to support them in running the business.

Molokwane said, “Working with family can be a challenge, but we agreed to always separate business from family and to always take good care of our people because happy employees equal a flourishing business. It is usually easier to take care of the people you understand.”

One of the locals who has found employment with the two, Veli Masilela said, “There are so many skills ekasi, I am even getting more clients who have seen my work displayed at the shop where I work with the Motlhahledi brothers.”

The two brothers are confident of the future because they have each other.
