Still no help for the Ramsey family
"We do not necessarily need cash but building materials, furniture and clothes as we are in desperate need to have our house rebuilt. "
The Ramsey family is still crying for help after their home recently caught fire mysteriously in the cold days of winter. The house is at Phiri township and it is badly damaged since it caught fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown and arson is suspected. A case has been opened but no arrests have been made yet.
According to Solly Ramsey, who lives in the house, it will cost thousands to fix the damage as roofing, furniture and clothing were destroyed.
Ramsey lives with his uncle Godfrey and brother Reginald and said they need help to return the house to its original state.
Solly said everything in the house was damaged and he was only left with a blanket to sleep. According to Godfrey, the fire broke out around midnight.
“I tried to stop the fire which was all over and could not as I was also fearing for my life and had to rush out of the house as the fire was unbearably hot.”
He said they do not necessarily need cash but building materials, furniture and clothes as they are in desperate need to have their house rebuilt.
The local councillor has since donated bags of cement to the family. Kamohelo Thebe of the Phiri Neighbourhood Watch said they are trying to help by getting the much-needed equipment.
He said as the community they have been trying to get donations and have been contacting people. “We are concerned about the situation as the neighbourhood watch and we are trying hard to get help,” said Thebe.
