'We just try to be their for our community'

On October 20,  Zest Productions held a concert at the Goudveld Senior Secondary Hall. The concert was called the Old School Live Music Extravaganza. The performances were excellent because the groups and individual singers not only hit home with their singing talent, but also with the costumes they wore.

The concert had many aspects which kept the audience entertained from beginning to end. Each performer had their own style in every one of their performances. During the intermission, there was crowd participation which kept the audience entertained while giving the artists a break.

Some of the artists who performed were B3, The Commitmentz, Lejundre Johnstone and Zuki Gxaka. The youngest artist who performed was Iman Lawrence who showed some of the younger audience members that even young people can enjoy old music.

During one of the hosts’ performances, Noor ‘Mr Personality’ Sadulla, there  a sketch in which one of the male artists  dressed up as women to give the concert a sense of comic relief.

“This concert was put together in aid to raise funds for charities. The organisers called on us The Commitmentz to revive ourselves as our last concert was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and we just try to be there for our communities,” said Commitmentz member, Mohammed Kamish.

The concert gave the audience a new sense of appreciation for old school music. It is concerts such as this that keeps the older, unappreciated music alive.
