Local organisation reaches out to learners at local school to make a difference

The Department of Education has been on a drive to provide basic nutrition for school children and the progress of this initiative can be seen in some of our local schools.

Nantshingwayo Project on the other hand, is adding support to this initiative as they hosted their own feeding programme at Vusisizwe Junior Primary School in Zola.

Aiming to make a difference, the project came to the school with a mandate to provide pupils with an alternative to the food they regularly get from the schools feeding scheme.

“Since our organisation got funded, we saw it fit to provide pupils with a small treat that they don’t usually get from school.

“I felt that hot dogs and snacks would be a nice alternative especially for the underprivileged pupils because its not very often that they get treats,” said Zandile Khumalo, the founder of the organisation.

In previous weeks, the organisation has donated to other schools in the area and is planning to continue reaching out to schools and provide such support.
