Breakfast is served by RRL

Education is very important and the RRL wants to make people aware of just how important education is.

Saturday a breakfast was held to celebrate the volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to help encourage children in primary schools to read.

Readers ‘R Leaders (RRL) have been running for almost 6 years. The organisation is run completely by volunteerism. Education is very important and the RRL wants to make people aware of just how important education is, therefore, they have partnered with some schools.

The organisation would like to bring across that it is not only the responsibility of the teachers to help pupils but also the parents. RRL brings parents and teachers closer by involving the parents in the children’s education.

“If we don’t step up to the call to get involved in our children’s lives, I think whole communities will be lost, because if we don’t know how to read what will the future hold for us and we as Readers ‘R Leaders are playing that small role of helping our children to read,” said Cyril Turton (Founder of RRL).

Each year the breakfast is held at a different venue. This year the breakfast was held at Bosmont Primary School. The breakfast is not only held to say thank you to the volunteers but also a way for the volunteers from the different schools to meet each other.
