JUST IN: Newclare’s ABC Stores engulfed in flames
The cause of the fire yet to be explained.
According to the Emergency Control SA – JHB West they recieved a call reporting a fire at the well known ABC Stores in Newclare.
ECSA Fire and Rescue crews were first to arrive on scene and the structure was already fully engulfed and spreading to adjoining shops.
Emergency Control SA – JHB add that the fire crews quickly relayed info to COJEMS Officers and requested urgent back up.
“While awaiting engines out crews started evacuating residents from a block of flats and a house on either side of the burning building as they were at risk from the spread of the blaze.
“Water supply was gained from two hydrants ready for COJEMS fire crews as they arrived on scene.
“Multiple engines arrived swiftly on scene where forcible entry using various tools and power tools to gain access to start fighting the blaze.”
