Eight-year-old from Eldorado Park Extension Two complete writing his first book
The book titled 'The Man Baby' is about a grown up who acts like a baby.
Dainon Van Wyk is an Eight-year-old from Eldorado Park Extension Two who has big dreams of becoming a well-renowned book author and illustrator. Van Wyk, who is currently in grade Three, has written his first book, titled ‘The Man Baby’.
“The book is about a person who acts like a baby but he is actually a man,” he said.
“After reading a bunch of books, I realised that most children books are actually about grown-up people so I wanted my book to be about both grown-ups and young children but emerged into one person. I think that everyone wants to always remember and even go back to their childhood,” he added.
Sonia Elie who many know as ‘Die Boek Feetjie’ has been helping the young author to complete his book.
“The storyline was his idea, I am assisting with the spelling and grammar, making sure there are no errors,” said Elie.
“I am an avid reader myself and I have been trying to encourage the youth of our community to read more so when I heard about Dainon I was so excited and couldn’t believe how much he has achieved at only Eight years old,” she added.

“In the far future I would like to bring my books to life, I would like to make movies out of them and me when I am older I want to write books for adults,” Dainon concluded.
