Three arrested for theft under false pretenses and armed robbery
The police are warning the community to be careful of people claiming to be spiritual healers and offer to make them rich and grow their businesses.
Two men and a woman aged between 40 and 45 were arrested for theft under false pretences and armed robbery in Protea Glen.
According to a police report, a 54-year old woman met a man on a dating website. She visited the man and she was introduced to his sister.
She said that her sister has a spiritual gift of making people rich and helping them to grow their businesses. The woman was taken to a dark room in the house.
She was told that bad things are going to happen to her and they must talk to her ancestors to stop them. She was also shown a box full of money and was told that it was R10 million and was told that before she can claim the money she must pay R100 000 in advance.

The woman told them that she can only afford R500 000. It is alleged that some of the money would be used to buy sorghum beer, a tortoise and a black and white cow to perform rituals.
When she delivered the final payment, two men pointed her with firearms and her bag containing money.
She then reported the matter to the police. The police investigation led to the arrest of two men and a woman for theft under false pretences and armed robbery.
The suspects appeared in the Protea Magistrate’s court.
