Protea Glen families enjoy day of fun and togetherness

Salem Assembly Sunday School brought members of the community together for a family fun day, creating an opportunity for families to enjoy a day of fun and togetherness on August 29 in Protea Glen.

The day featured a talent show for young people, along with various activities and a safety talk presented by an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) representative.

Sunday School teacher at Salem Assembly, Puleng Montseng, said the event gives families an opportunity to spend time together, have fun and build stronger relationships, while also playing a role in strengthening family structures.

“Part of what we have noticed is that there is a lot of division among people, so we are trying to bring back love among families.

“We decided to start this initiative within the church by inviting both parents and children to spend time together. We find that some parents work long hours and find it difficult to spend time with their children, so having a day like this allows parents to give special time and attention to their children,” she said.

Montseng said through the event, they want children to have fun while learning to work together as a team and building unity, helping to close the gap between parents and children.

A parent who attended the event, Charmaine Mosoeu, said the family fun day was a beautiful initiative and something she believed should continue.

“This has given me an opportunity to spend time with my family because during the week I am really busy. When we have opportunities like this, it works in our favour and brings families closer together. It also helps to bring togetherness to the community, so we are grateful for this initiative,” she said.

She further thanked the organisers of the event, saying that their efforts are appreciated.

Sunday School participant Vutivi Baloyi said they had fun and enjoyed a wonderful Saturday.

“Thank you to our Sunday School teacher, this day is beautiful and enjoyable because we are able to share this special moment with our parents,” he said.
