56 year old man shot dead in Emndeni, Soweto

The Naledi SAPS on the lookout for murder suspect.

Naledi SAPS launched a manhunt following the murder of a 56 year old man who was shot dead by an unknown suspect on March, 25 at Xuma Street in Emndeni.

According to the police statement, the police received the complaint from a community member who anonymously contacted the emergency number.

“It is alleged that the deceased was driving a Toyota Etios. He was shot standing next to his car with another man, an unknown man approached him and pulled out a gun and started shooting at him.”

Naledi spokesperson Constable Dakalo Phemula said the other man managed to run away from the scene, the deceased sustained multiple bullet wounds on the upper body and he was declared dead on the scene, he added.

After the shooting, the suspect was seen walking away on foot, the police would like to plead with the community to come forward with any information which can assist in arresting the suspect.

“The motive behind the killing is not known at the moment; however police investigation in this case is underway,” said Phemula.
