Social distancing ignored in some areas in Soweto

Day 1 of Lockdown in SA saw long queues at Soweto Malls.

Day 1 of Lockdown in South Africa saw some Sowetans still roaming the streets ignoring the rules stipulated by the South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Some residents said that for now they will continue with their lives till they see soldiers in Soweto.

Local shopping malls in Soweto such as Diepkloof Square, Ndofaya Mall and Dobsonville Mall to name a few are overcrowded with long queues neglecting Social Distancing.




Early in the morning essential employees where overcrowded in Rea Vaya stations waiting for limited Rea Vaya buses. Following the announcement by the Rea Vaya bus transit to reduce bus schedules for the Nationwide Lockdown.



The Kasi lifestyle of chilling in groups at different corners in Soweto is still ongoing.

People continuing with their day to day lives.

The hustle continues as the guy in the picture is heading to the scrapyard in order to be able to support his family.
